Color Effects with the Hand Cards

Img_0116 No need to haul out the drumcarder, students in this class students will use their hand cards to prepare wool rolags that spin yarns reminiscent of hand-painted Japanese yarns.

    These are a couple of pictures of my demo and the students in the Spinning A to Z class. This is a great class for the beginner, as it offers everything you need to know to go home and spin. We learned basic spinning and drafting with roving; discussed washing wool (not the right venue for washing a woolie), carded and combed wool for woolen, worsted and color effects; plying and finishing your yarns. At the end, for the students that wanted to give it a try, we spun silk from roving
